Book Launched at Diamond Brand – Fundraiser for Friends of the MST

Diamond Branch launch - 4 women

Last night, about 75 people came to Diamond Brand Outdoors to help me launch my book The Mountains-to-Sea Trail Across North Carolina. The weather was awful with a driving rain and forecast of snow. I was extra grateful that so many made the effort to come and support the Mountains-to-Sea Trail. Several came from out of town.

Magan Thomas, a sales person at the History Press, came from Charleston, SC to support the launch. The History Press sprung for delicious food. Thank you.

Sharon McCarthy, Smoky Scout and my MST hiking partner, drove from Charlotte to attend. She gave a different perspective to walking and biking the MST.

I’m the shortest one in the red top.

Kate Dixon, Executive Director of Friends of the MST, came from Raleigh.

The audience was great!

Diamond Branch launch - audience Engaged, questioning, supportive and generous with their time and yes, with their money. Several outdoor celebrities came, including Bill Hart, chair of the Great Smoky Mountains Association and Jennifer Pharr Davis, the fastest hiker on the Appalachian Trail.

Thank you to Ashok Kudva for all the photographs.

Diamond Brand was the launch site but only the launch. I will be everywhere in North Carolina over the next few months. See the book events on my website.
