Tomorrow starts National Park Week, April 16 to 24.
This is when you can visit all national park units for free. Of course, in the Southeast, almost all national parks are free. But still, it’s nice to know that you can get into any of the 410 parks for free.
In honor of National Park Week, the National Park Conservation Association is hosting a photo challenge. It’s not a contest, just a celebration. Usually I don’t bother with photo contest because there’s no way I can win or even place. But this one is different!
And I have an ulterior motive. I want visitors and photographers to flood social media with parks other than the large YY (Yosemite and Yellowstone) parks. Yes, these once-in-a-lifetime parks are beautiful. But so are the Smokies, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Congaree National Park and Cape Hatteras, just to name a few of my favorites.
So join me in posting pictures of your favorite “home” park! Here are the rules from NPCA.
Share one of your favorite national park photos each day of National Park Week

We need your help to get the ball rolling!
National park fans across the country will start posting their #NationalParkChallenge photos and we hope you will join in the fun. Remember, this is a celebration, not a contest, so have some fun with it! For more information, visit our #NationalParkChallenge instruction page.
